Why doesn't iTunes recognize my iPhone 6s since the iOS 13 update?

  • Is this also the proper place to submit a solution I discovered, to a question/problem I could not-yet find the answer to here in the community?

As you may know, Apple recently released the new IOS13 update. And for some of us who own an older MacBook or computer, that posed an issue. Since we cannot upgrade our current operating system, (because of old, incompatible, almost obsolete hardware) in theory we cannot download the required software to have iTunes once again recognize the plugged-in device.

I selected install and got the next window which I left overnight to find it still hung up and one other time with an error saying I need to update to the latest MacOS, which I obviously can't [on an old, slightly modified, MacBook Air (13-inch, Mid 2010)].

But then, I would open up iMazing, And then... Voilà

iTunes would again recognize it. As long as I keep iMazing app open and reading the device as plugged in.

Everything I searched here and online was saying the same thing.

"Check the cable, blah... Make sure it's a good (Apple Brand) cable and that there is nothing else plugged into the ports.. blah blah... You have to upgrade your Mac Operating System to the latest one Available.. blah blah blah." Use a friends computer to manage your music... etc.

Yes all good answers, but also quite obvious and generic. Some would go on to state the next obvious solution, (-___-) and yes...

"BUY A NEW MAC!"

Which I would LOVE to do, but don't have the finances for at the moment. So I randomly stumbled upon the fact that I hadn't used imazing in quite a while but was glad to know that it at least still recognized the iPhone requiring no additional downloads. So I hope this helps, or helped someone like it did me and that Apple finds a workaround this issue.

☞P.S.

As I was writing and about to post this, I plugged in my iPhone to recall the steps and any issues I might've missed, and found that this time It did not show an error message. The update downloaded fine this time, so It does not need iMazing to recognize it anymore. Thank You Apple for reading my mind! and making me waste time writing this... (just kiddin') B-) you guys Rock! ✌︎
