I drop my Raw camera files into photos on my Macbook pro and that is fine. When I try to put them on my external hard drive they turn into JPEG files at substantially lower resolution. Why is it doing this and how can I get my raw camera files on my Lacie Raid storage?
You can bypass Photos entirely using Image Capture (in the Applications Folder)
Do not drag and drop them from Photos to the external drive. Drag and drop will only save the previews of photos, not necessarily the original RAW files.
Use the file->export->export unmodified functionality.
