Apple watch S4 call failed

Hi Everyone. There is another (short) post regarding same issue. It's called "AW Cellular S3 Nike - Call Failed every time... A solution was posted on that string that worked for me as I can now answer calls on my watch. It states:

On your iPhone, go to Settings > Phone, and turn off Wi-Fi Calling and Calls on Other Devices.

In the Watch app on your iPhone, go to My Watch > General > Enable Handoff, and disable Handoff.

Restart both devices, then turn these features back on.

iOS13.4.1 & watchOS 6.2.1 installed on IPhone SE 64 GB & Apple Watch 4 Nike Series respectively.

Call drop out issue appears fixed! I have been testing since installation and also got one of my mates to test it who has similar setup.

I have disabled automatic downloading/installation of any future updates as I’m not willing to risk it!!

I would like to share something, about this issue, I’ve had this problem since last year since Apple had updated to watchOS 6.0.2, however as of 18/05/20 I had an update to my watchOS 6 version, which the version is now 6.2.5, so go download it and I tell you my relief! What I did was I unpaired my watch from the phone to a last backup was made last year to see if it would roll back (my version then was 5.0.1) it didn’t work so, I reset the watch and updated to the new 6.2.5 now out! Boy what a relief, it worked with the latest update and I no longer get call failed. However I only get this on my iMac instead!! Dope but at least I got my watching working again after being failing for at least 7 months and I have the Apple Watch 4. So try the new download it just might work fo you. It has for me. I have been following this thread since the very beginning as I was deeply affected by the WatchOS 6 update bug.

I am pleased to report that the recent update to iOS 13.6 and WatchOS 6.2.8 apparently did the trick for me.

Apple Sport Watch series 5 + iPhone SE (first gen.) working fine since the past 48 hours.

Using Siri, making/answering phone calls seems to work as supposed.

I am surprised nobody else is reporting the same.

Am I the only one left using the first edition iPhone SE paired with the Apple Watch?

I fixed my issue of failed calls on apple watch 4. I had my watched paired with bluethooth ear buds, ear buds off call fails.unpair buds watch makes and receives calls again.

Based on a few things I read in this thread I disabled Bluetooth on my watch and could suddenly make calls again. Hopefully this helps someone out there.

Since you seem to have tested calls a few ways and have your device up-to-date, let's try to unpair and pair your Apple Watch to see if the issue persists:

I installed my iPhone SE new with the Factory-Image over Itunes - did not work.

I updated my iPhone SE to iOS 13.3 ( Publich Beta) - did not work

I paired the Apple Watch with an other iPhone SE of a friend - same issues.

The last thing i tried was to restore my iPhone Backup to an iPhone X and paird my Watch - and finaly everything is fine. Calls are working again as they should!

I called the Apple Support and told them everything i tried in the last weeks and the Support promised me to send this case to the engineers for solving this bug.

I hope this was the last time for me calling the Support-Team..

Yes. I turned off Bluetooth on the watch and you are right: calls go through, Siri doesn’t cut out and responds immediately without waiting for establishing connection with the phone. The only problem is that it’s not a battery friendly solution. At least we know, it’s op system related and Bluetooth is the culprit.

Had the same problem, did the following which seems to have solved it:

• Restart iPhone.
• Hard-reset Apple Watch - hold both buttons pressed for about 15 seconds and wait for watch to restart.

Hi everyone. There is something I would like you to try. I had the same issue. After the last update I turned off the Bluetooth on the watch, both phone and watch were connected to the same WiFi network, I did some test calls, and everything was OK, and then I just turned Bluetooth back on. Good luck.

I have had the same issue with my Apple Watch series 3 all I did to solve the problem was restart my cell & power down my watch and turn it back on again. I can now make & receive calls on my Apple Watch.

I did the same and also for me, this did not work. In trying this though, I did discover that starting or answering calls on my Watch does work when I disable calling via WiFi on the Iphone. Have others experienced the same?

Have any of you gone into the Apple Watch Apple on your phones and verified you are signed into your Apple ID (Under general settings < Apple ID)? If not your watch and phone struggle to sync which leads to call fails as described.

As mentioned about battery above, so I tried to set "Optimized battery charging" to disable, and reboot. It seems work. Siri look fast, and calling work. I also tried to set it to be enable, the issue also came back. This may solve.
