Hi Everyone. There is another (short) post regarding same issue. It's called "AW Cellular S3 Nike - Call Failed every time... A solution was posted on that string that worked for me as I can now answer calls on my watch. It states:

On your iPhone, go to Settings > Phone, and turn off Wi-Fi Calling and Calls on Other Devices.

In the Watch app on your iPhone, go to My Watch > General > Enable Handoff, and disable Handoff.

Restart both devices, then turn these features back on.

Here's more about Wi-Fi Calling and how calls are delivered to other devices:

Make and receive calls on your Mac, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

Make a call with Wi-Fi Calling - Apple Support

Let me know if this works, test while connected and not connected to Wi-Fi.

Good luck.

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities.

Yes. I feel us iPhone SE users are abandoned by Apple. I think (my opinion) the mating iPhone SE+AppleWatch maybe is not so spread. So yes, we are considered “minor customer”. Otherwise it wouldn’t explain such slow progress to the resolution. As you say, I even think engineers don’t know about the issue. Last try we can do is to use social media (apple twitter support account: we can let apple know about the issue through that way). Plus, we seriously should consider to ask for compensation. It’s 3 months!

On 5 series of not help reboot. The problem persists. The problem is in

the clock, because in both my cars on speakerphone I can easily call and

answer the call. On wireless headphones (not Apple) I also have no

problem answering the call. Called several times in support, they

pretend that they know nothing about this problem. Every time they say

the same thing : overload both your devices and you will be contacted by

our staff. But no one calls back. Shame On Apple !

Wife: iPhone 6s

Me: iPhone 6s+

Both running iOS 6.3

Wife: Apple Watch 3-Cellular

Me: Apple Watch 4-Cellular

Both running WatchOS 6.1.1

Both manifesting “Call Failed” issue when iPhone locked. If I unlock the phones, calling works.

Hard reset of phones and Watch does not help.

Can you imagine if I found myself in an emergency situation with only my cellular Watch? No ability to call. No ability to get help.

This problem is not restricted to just iPhone SE owners and it is, in my opinion, a ticking time bomb for Apple and customers who must rely on their Apple Watch in an emergency.

After seeing all you people having the same problem as me, I thought it would be helpful to share with you my solution. The solution is very simple but costly. After all the frustration I had with my watch, I went to Apple and buy myself a new iPhone 11 and paired it with the troublesome Apple Watch. I have no problem since.

I think Apple just want their fanboys to upgrade to their latest iPhone. That’s the whole point of ******* us off with this frustration. I hope that helps.

Sorry to say that: this “solution” didn’t solve! It’s an Apple’s support move in order to try to help and keep calm customers (and take time). Yes, maybe it works for one, two times. In little time the issue come back. Apple has to face it: this is a huge issue. It’s not only about calls drop; it’s about BT/Siri, connection between Apple Watch and iPhone (mainly SE).

Hello,

been having the same problems since I bought the watch in October. After calling Apple Support they told me the problem is definetly coming from the carrier and I should contact them. After I told them I have the same problem with Facetime calls, their only solution was *surprise* to UNPAIR, RESET (which can be done in different ways i.e. with or without removing the LTE settings and so on). Waited on hold for one hour until someone responded, they told me to do a different unpair and then they will call me back. Even when they called I still was on hold for an hour. The last solution was to try it out on a different model of Iphone which I don t have (and if they would read their OWN forums they would see the problem appears on different models of iphone and iwatch). Horrible support from Apple especially since hundreds of people are having the issue.

Hello all From Athens Greece,

same problem here with SE 13.3 and AW 4 6.1.1 .

i also believe that problem relies on bluetooth as if i disable and enable bluetooth on my iphone (without unlock it) AW will make call for a while then issue will appear again.

I mainly use AW for the feature of emergency call in case of an accident as i ride motorcycle and a dirtbike in the country side sometimes alone; so this feature may be vital for me and other people also.

Apple should have solved the issue by now as a lot of people payed for this feature . I was thinking of getting my parents AW as they get old and they live alone but to pay a load of money and in case of emergency to have a failed called stops me from buying 2 more AW. At the end Apple will be the one loosing more than we lost if this issue is not finally resolved. There is other brands out there. With same features maybe even cheaper. We should inform anyone we know that is interested to buy an apple watch... i do already...

hope we have the issue fixed in next realease of iOS as i believe problem caused by iphone and not from AW as AW tries to. Make the call.On my tests i was calling my landline number which will have a sort ring before it stops and AW. Reports a failed call.

wish us all good luck!!!

Hi! I’ve tried your tip, unfortunately it didn’t worked.

In my case (as many others iPhone SE USERS) the issue affects not only calls, but also Siri: you can’t use Siri anymore, no iMessage dictation. I also experience AirPods disconnections if i invoke Siri on my Apple Watch. It seems a bug related mainly to Bluetooth + iPhoneSE. I personally was bounced from an advisor to another. The last one asked me to open another ticket since (he told me) it seems there are not so many cases like me.... this is absurd. I told him to read this post and many others on the web. Nothing. Apple seems ignore this issue, since 4 months we are left in this situation. With our apple watches working at 10% of their functions. Has someone here idea how to get attention from Apple?? I ask it Seriously: what can we really do now (except passively accept this)?

Jan 29, 2020 9:59 PM in response to Gam3ngine

Same thing. SE 13.3.1 and AW4 6.1.2. Siri often works starting from the third request, in 50% of time can’t neither make, nor receive a call. Dictation also takes forever.

Phone calls start working after I wake the phone.

It’s stupid — you officially support the SE, I paid total price for your tech and I simply don’t get what you advertised! It’s like you cut half of functionality of your devices without saying anything.

By the way, it’s simply not safe, especially, when you’re driving.

Have you all contacted Apple Support? I call them every week and ask how they solve the problem. Without success, but at least they know problem is still here. So far it's still: "Try installing the profile we sent you, try calling, write down the time and success rate." The next day we download the diagnostic data and then wait a week. Then it all repeats itself. :)

Hi Mr. Luigi,

let me suggest you don't get to excited about the 13.4 release.

I have GM installed on my iPhone SE but it didn't make any difference.

Let's hope WatchOS 6.2 can do the trick.

BTW, to everybody following this thread: I have been contacted a few weeks ago by Apple regarding this issue. They made me install profiles in order to collect data coming from my devices so, they are fully aware of the issue and working on it.

Problem is, I guess, we are probably a fairly small number of users affected by the issue hence Apple may have allocated just one person to fix this. Let's hope for the best as I am planning to stay on this iPhone and Watch for at least another few years.

I also had an Apple support on the line and we have installed profiles, new IOS 13.4 beta and still couldnt make or recieve calls. I start thinking that it has something to do with the iPhone SE versions which are older ones and we will never be able to make calls till we dont upgrade our iPhones into newer ones. :( Quite sad they cant (or dont want to) solve this issue for us. I dont believe in the fact that there couldnt be a solution for this if they really wanted to help us. I am sure Apple has good engineers however this is not their priority to solve and they prefer us to purchase new iPhones.
