Yesterday morning, my earbuds were working fine. Then, that afternoon, I plugged in my ear buds, and they were making a high pitched sound. After about 10-15 seconds, it stopped. I tried playing music, by heard no sound coming from my earbuds. The music was coming from my phone speakers. So whenever I plug in my earbuds, it doesn’t register that they are plugged in. Please help (iPhone 8)

Is this happening with the Lightning EarPods that came with your iPhone?

If you checked your iPhone for debris on the receiver and Lightning port, and don't believe those to be the source of the issue, then you should seek service for your device.
