safari not downloading pdf's

MacBook Air running Mac OS 10.14.6 and Safari 13.0.1 - I click on a file (e.g. bank statement) to download it, and it starts and then stops. Under the little down pointing arrow in the top right corner of the Safari window, I open it and it shows "0 KB of ? - stopped". Will this be fixed in the next release of Safari? BTW - I have no problem downloading pdf's using Firefox on my MacBook Air computer, so it seems highly likely that it's the Safari browser having the issues.

I have a work around! Yep. I am having the same problem but only on some sites, like: Citi bank and random other sites. I found that after the PFD is loaded (visible ) in Safari do this: From the menu: File > Export as PDF. Boom it Downloads to my Download folder.

I am not sure what the problem is since I disabled all the blocking tools in Safari and that helped on a few of the other sites I was having issues with. Well I hope this helps. I am going to post this message on some other threads I saw with the same issue.

Are you running any anti - virus programs? Using a VPN?

Try setting up another admin user account in System Preferences/Users & Groups to see if the same problem continues. Please post back on whether or not this worked. Also try the Safe Mode. Please post back on whether or not this worked.

The program was created by Etresoft, a frequent contributor.  Please use copy and paste as screen shots can be hard to read. Click “Share Report” button in the toolbar, select “Copy to Clipboard” and then paste into a reply. This will show what is running on your computer. No personal information is shown. If the log won’t post, try posting it in Pastebin and provide a link in a reply. After pasting the report in a PasteBin page, go to the top of the page, and copy the address in the URL bar.
