I’m assuming you have the actual Roku remote control right? So you can drive through the menus that way, and since the Roku is not online, no app remotes will work. You could try resetting the network on the Roku:
- Press the home button.
- Select the Settings option.
- Choose the Advanced System Settings option from the list of settings.
- Pick the option for Network Connection Reset.
- Press the select button on Reset Connection to clear all of your network connection settings.
- Your Roku will reboot immediately.
Once the reboot has been completed, you can set up your network settings from scratch. If your old network settings had been causing a problem, the issues with your network connection should be fixed. You will need your Wi-Fi network name and password to recreate the connection.
something else I read was to bring up the iOS Control Center on the HotSpot device, such as the iPhone or iPad, then long press on the WiFi symbol, that will expand the menu, from there, you can toggle the Personal HotSpot off and then on again, which may trigger the Roku to grab a refreshed IP address configuration.
Again though, and unfortunately, Roku doesn’t give you a lot of access to manage the network address on the Roku’s menu system. If they had a simple “release/renew” button, you’d be all set.
You can force a Roku to have a static IP address configuration from a router by assigning a static IP address based off of the Roku’s MAC address, but with an iOS HotSpot, you are not able to gain that kind of control of the “router” in iOS!!!
The Roku May be stuck offline via the iOS 13 HotSpot until Apple acknowledges the problem and fixes it in a later release; I have yet to see Apple acknowledge the problem anywhere online, and when I spoke with Apple support they did not acknowledge the issue either; so I’m not sure this will even be repaired in iOS 13.1.4. It is a real problem though!
