iPhone keeps randomly playing music

Ever since updating to iOS 13 my iPhone randomly starts playing music from the official music app. This doesn’t happen on 3rd party apps like Spotify. Often it will be whenever I connect my headphones it will just pick a random song and begin playing it. Sometimes my phone may be sitting untouched for an hour or so and all of a sudden it’ll begin playing a song. This happens even if the app has been closed down. It doesn’t pick up playing where it left off - it’ll just pick a random song and begin playing.

I don’t know any settings that have been changed or why it would be doing this. It’ll happen maybe 3-4 times over the course of a day and can be extremely annoying. Has anyone else come across this since the iOS 13 update and got a fix for it?

Hello thepokey,

I understand from your post that Apple Music randomly starts playing even when the app is closed since updating to iOS 13. I am happy to help.

Have you restarted your phone since this started happening?

Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

If after a restart and you're still experiencing the same issue we recommend reinstalling the update using iTunes on a computer. The article below will help with that.
