Hello,
Please verify that you are swiping down from the very center of iPad's Home Screen.

First, this isn’t a jab at zmclearan, and I get it now, but. .. HEY APPLE! This is NOT an intuitive gesture, and “down from the center” or even “down from the very center” is not a clear instruction. Maybe the “middle of the screen - don’t start at the top” and/or some clarification like: start halfway down from the top and halfway between left and right sides of the screen / if the screen had a bullseye on it, start from the bullseye and swipe down . . . Or something.
But, really, why can’t we just swipe from the left or the top to search like in the good old days? Why the ‘center’??? Needlessly confusing.
I so much agree with this, I have been fighting with this for days. I must have accidentally done it right a few times which made it more confusing. I was attempting to find a spot between where I swiped for the notifications and the flashlight and stuff. So easy once explained.
Seriously wasted so much time on this. It worked much better when we swiped from the side. Quit making things better that don’t need fixed! So hard to justify doing updates when it wastes my time to do it then deal with apples fixes!

The middle of the screen like this.
Exactly!!! It should say something like, “beginning in the center of the display.”
Although it’s not intuitive. Should work from the very top!
