today I noticed that the compass on my AW S5 no longer working. The outer ring keep spinning and never point to North or give me any readings
i have tired to reset my Apple Watch and uninstall/re-install the compass app on iPhone but still can’t get the compass working.
Is the built in compass permanently defected due to The Milanese loop I use?

I had the same problem and i found a way to fix it.
FOLLOW THESE STEPS.
MAKE SHURE THAT YOUR WATCH IS CONNECTED TO YOUR IPHONE.
1- Go to settings on your iphone
2- Privacy
3-Location Services
4- Scroll down and click on System services
5- Turn on (Compass Calibration) and (Motion calibration & Distance )

bought mine today, same issue
(for apple) I’ve noticed the compass on “maps” turns as I turn, so it might be a SW issue
I’m using the non-cellular 44
Unpaired the watch, factory reset it, no love
it also seems to not want to charge beyond 60%
swapping it tomorrow. Ill let you know
So... the compass turns while i turn on maps, compass app never finds north, “night sky” app doesnt appear to see any accelerometer data. Looks like bad accelerometers

I turned off use true north and now the compass works. Thanks!
It only works with True north turned off. I was thinking of keeping it anyway, but, who knows if something else will go wrong.
How did Apple check it out? Did you bring it in to a store?

These are the other thing I forgot I did to get it working.
With these enabled, you can turn "true north" back on on your compass settings.
