27 inch mid-2010 2.93GHz iMac goes to a black screen after restart command from App Store. Manually restarts fine, but without update installed. Your thoughts?

I'm having a difficulty with the 10.13.6 17G8037 update. After clicking update and then attempting to restart, the update is not active(i.e. I'm still running 17G8020).

Help(?)

Cheers,

Alan Tomlinson

Hi Alan,

Sounds like something is hiccuping with the install part. I would check to make sure you have plenty of storage available in Apple menu > About this Mac > Storage tab. Your Mac also needs at least 2GB of memory and 14.3GB of available storage space for installing macOS High Sierra.

If plenty of storage space, please go to Finder > Applications or Downloads > locate macOS High Sierra and drag to the Trash bin > empty. You think will want to try downloading and installing the update again: Get macOS High Sierra

If the above doesn't do it...

EtreCheck is a simple little app to display the important details of your system configuration and allow you to copy that information to the Clipboard. It is meant to be used with Apple Support Communities to help people help you with your Mac.

Pastebin is a good place to paste the whole report...

Workable but harder for me to work with...the Note tool on the bottom of this editor's toolbar, as shown in the image, to copy and paste the output from EtreCheck.
