Is anyone else finding that Apple Pay is unreliable? I often see a message on the credit card terminal saying “get closer.” This is while my iPhone X is literally resting on the terminal. It doesn’t happen all the time, but probably 25% of the time. Any suggestions???

Don't rest your phone on the terminal. Hold the top edge of the phone over the spot indicated for contactless authorizations (it will usually have an icon that looks like a Wi-Fi fan in a circle) and hold it still for a couple of seconds. The terminal and the phone will beep when it has been recognized. The technology is "NFC" or Near Field Communications, with emphasis on the "NEAR".
