When my MacBook Air goes to sleep and I need to wake it up, the keyboard will light up and my screen will stay black. I end up having to hold down my power button to turn it off and on again EVERY time. Why is it doing this? How do I fix it?
I have the same problem with my Macbook Air 2019 Retina. Two days ago, I gave the laptop to a official Apple service center. Today they returned the laptop to me and said that it was a software problem. A lot of user complaints. Will be fixed with the next update. The official answer from the Apple Service Center.

It don't work for me. I called Apple support and we do all steps "If your Mac doesn't sleep or wake when expected". Unfortunately nothing helped:( After that a support engineer sent me to a service center.
My problem with black screen when macbook wake it up after sleep is reproduced on 10.15 Catalina.
I tried to fully reinstall operation system with erasing disk partition. Not helped.
