Confusing App Store Question

So currently, I am under a “family sharing” plan. That wasn’t a problem until recently. So I’ve moved abroad but my significant other is still in America. Is there a way I can buy things from the App Store without switching the account over to my current countries settings? We want to keep the account as American (since I plan on returning to America eventually and my significant other still lives there), but I want to use the foreign currency I currently have to pay for things like iTunes and such. I’ve read that buying a gift card will not work because your account must be under that specific countries settings. After a few searches, it seems impossible. But I’m asking in hopes that someone may have a solution that will work!
