Album art in Music for Catalina

I just upgraded to Catalina and noticed all of my album art did not show up in Music. Will this be fixed in the next update? I have thousands of albums and would hate to manually attempt to fix this. Please let me know, thanks! Chuck

THIS IS THE SOLUTION!

Apple is using a new library format ".musiclibrary", you can find it in the new Music folder named "Music Library.musiclibrary". You can ask it to rebuild the library by ,quit Music, after press option key + click to start without a library. Then select Choose Library and select from iTunes folder the file named "iTunes Library.itl". Then Music asks for a location to store the new library, which will be in Music/music. Then Music should start loading artworks (just allow some time depending on the size of library).

All the best!

Hope for better OS updates from apple next time!

I AM still having similar problem with missing album artwork. Approx 50% of my (considerable amount) of albums are without artwork since I upgraded to Catalina yesterday. Left ITUNES open all day; but no joy. Furthermore when selecting "GET ALBUM ARTWORK" from drop down menu - error message received every time for every missing album. No problem like this for any previous upgrade.

I waited for 3 days for album art to load. Now, it seems to be finished, but I'm missing A LOT. I spent years in completing my music library and have added most of the album art manually. Clicking on hundreds of albums to "get albumart" doesn't really help me. In addition, Music has caused Catalina to crash 4 times now and caused an automatic reboot... This is really annoying! As another user mentioned I will avoid major upgrades like Catalina in the future (should have known...).

While I’ve had some success after lots of pain on the album art work front, I found out this morning Catalina refuses to sync my iPhone data correctly and Apple CarPlay shows place holders but the tracks are missing 🤬🤬🤬. Looks like I’m going to be rolling back to the last version of Mac OS X. Until things are sorted and working reliability.

Took a day (more or less) to scan all and display all the album artwork in Music. I fixed all the album doesn't have artwork (I turned off the auto get artwork option).

I quitted Music app, re-started Music app, almost all artworks disappeared. And it slowly (very very slow) to bring the artwork back. It is like the very first time when I opened Music app right after installing the Catalina.

To prove my point: Apple Music app is working hard to clear out their own "artwork" from your music library.

To Apple: Your "feature" getting artwork is no longer benefit me. I turned it off. Please fix your software so artwork display quickly and correctly as design.

It took me the best part of 16 hours to manually go through each album that was missing its cover art, 16 hours a apple. A day off work wasted doing something I had already done previously. And to add insult to injury the ‘get album artwork’ didn’t work for a majority of music. This is a serious error on Apples part and should not have happened.

Oh and then not to mention the erratic iPhone synching. Not keen on the new interface as there doesn’t appear to be anywhere that tells you how many songs were synced to your device so you could check against to make sure all tracks had been synchronised. This is really hand for those of us with large music library's. Mine is over 3700 albums, approx 55K songs.

My iTunes library is big (2173 albums) and all of them had album covers until my Mac was upgraded to Catalina.

All covers for albums added in 2019 disappeared. Weirdly many albums added/released in 2017 lost their covers too.

Artwork is visible in finder and when the song is played. Status of missing album arts is the same as three days ago, nothing changed.

How long we need to wait until this bug will be fixed? ;___;

Hey Folks - just curious is it not possible anymore to see the Album Artwork in the Songs view under (Library) on the left column? It used to be an option to select "Always Show Album Artwork" in this view & now it's gone. This is awful for DJ's who often use visual recognition of album artwork when running down the list of millions songs in our iTunes to select for our gigs! Only seeing the little artwork box at the top does nothing because the thumbnail is so small!

Man Apple really screwed this up. I have about 5000 albums, and it has spent the last 2 days killing my computer by ramping up the CPU usage and the memory. It slowly loads artwork. The all of a sudden it stopped. The artwork is there but not shown for some albums, because I can see it in the mini player. This is truly painful, especially since I have spent the last 10 years growing a meticulously maintained set of music. Now it looks like I will have to rebuild it.
