OS Catalina and iphoto
I downloaded Catalina and now find my iPhoto does not work any more! How can I get it to work? DESPERATE!
Did what and what did or did not happen? This thread has become kind of diluted.

You cannot use iPhoto on Catalina. You would have to downgrade back to your previous system.
But you can open your iPhoto Libraries with Photos for mac to access your photos.

Double click iPhoto Library to open it in Photos. You should be able to access all photos and albums, the events will appear as albums as well.

I have this problem too. Have just downloaded Catalina but not yet installed it as I saw a warning about iPhoto not working. Is there an upgrade or something? Photos just does not cut it for me.
I feel exactly the same. I simply prefer iPhotos!!
Excellent - why would someone go thru all that trouble withHigh Sierra etc etc! This should be end of discussion?
iPhoto and Catalina was making a book in iPhoto and now it is all gone ????
The big deal is Photo you can not do a BOOK. ,Was almost finished with one. I do a lot of book making with iPhoto.
I was using iPhoto.. ,have made many books.
PHOTO does not work the same.

No it doesn't. That's why I posted my first post to this subject. Those are you two choices.
The list is there so you can do your own research for an app that meets your needs and budget best.
I have tried everything, when I open Iphotos, my pictures are not there anymore. They have been deleted. I'm desperate
Same for me :( I was not even allowed to open iPhotos. It said it was not supported anymore.
Could not go back to old iOS because I did not have a back up... Desperate too
