Catalina installation stuck
The Catalina installation seems to be stuck for hours with:
“Estimating time remaining...”
I don’t recall having an installation on previous OSs taking so long.
Forced reboot and back to the same stage.
Anybody?

After about two hours of seemingly no progress, I restarted. I don't really consider this a good thing to do during a system installation but this seemed to get things going. At least a message came up saying 32 minutes remaining – although it still took over an hour after that.
I think Apple needs to put a more senior developer on the install process to reassure the user that things are working and give progress.
Yeah Allan Eckert is a total tool!
27+ hours and waiting. Would you be kind to share your knowledge if you have any solution?
36 Hour on Progress Bar. iMac Late 2013. 3TB Fusion Drive with 2.7TB used
Restart does not help. Any Ideas?
Turn that Ef'r off. It'll boot up fine. It's stuck in a loop
Do I hold the record? My installation took 49 hours!
14.5 hours later...
Curious, did it finish on it's own or did you reboot?
Sorry posting twice
Mine took about an hour to install but the progress bar had to start over several times and attempting to get more info with command or control L didn't work.
Any update on how to fix? I have restored mine from a back up and tried re-installing the update and are stuck again for over 24 hours. Very frustrated right now with Apple.
Same problem for me!
Uhh! Came here seeing the same screen for about 5 minutes, but I got away in 30 minutes. Looks like Apple was too kind to me.
Many of us have successfully restarted the computer and the installation process picks up where it left off.
It may work for you too.
This was resolved 2 months ago. It was just a super slow installation.
A restart didn’t work for me and it’s been well over 72 hours of waiting now. Exactly HOW slow is this installation???
