Catalina Update Relocated Items - Can't Delete or Empty Trash

1. Enable root user on mac
2. switch to root user in terminal
3. rm -rf Relocated...

Restart your computer and try again.

You might try using the terminal by doing the following:

MacBook-Pro:~ elmaton$ cd .Trash
MacBook-Pro:.Trash elmaton$ sudo rm -rf Relocated\ Items

Make sure you have admin rights or sudo won't work.

Same issue here, I've tried:

sudo rm -rf X11R6

with the answer:

rm: X11R6: Operation not permitted

You’re right I opened Disk Utility to run a repair on my HD before trying the terminal so it must have mounted the images there.

Me too. I’m not that savy with computers so come on Apple sort this out.

Opening the folder and attempting to delete individually didn’t work on mine, I just deleted the entire folder right off my desktop. Emptied Trash = gone.

Agreed. They should have just been deleted in the update. If not, maybe had their permissions changed and put in a folder called "safe to delete" or something akin to that...

I did the "sudo rm -rf" and it worked but after a few days of lag, touchbar suddenly stopping working until reset and some other inconveniences I just erased the HD and reinstalled Catalina.
