Lock Screen Interrupts Web Streaming

Since I installed the recent upgrade 13.1.2 every time I listen to audio via a web stream the audio stops when the phone goes dark and into lock mode. When I tap on the screen I can see the web file and when I push the play button the count down display tells me that it’s playing but still no audio.

Other tines I am listening to web streaming and the phone goes into lock mode I tap on the screen and my itunes is open and then it will play with audio!!!??? Each and every time I had not had iTunes open on my phone prior to it going into lock mode.

I am very frustrated. No problems whatsoever prior to installing the upgrade. Thanks for any suggestions you can provide.

Hi Ruwallydog,

Thank you for using the Apple Support Communities! It's my understanding that websites playing audio and/or video will stop once your screen locks. I can provide you guidance.

If you are on a website playing audio or video, but your screen locks/goes to sleep, it is normal for the audio and video to stop playing at that time. You would want to adjust the Auto-Lock setting under Settings > Display & Brightness > Auto-Lock, if you wish to keep your iPhone from going to sleep. You can also look into enabling 'Attention Aware Features' if you are indeed using an iPhone XS as your post suggests: About Attention Aware features on your iPhone X or iPad Pro - Apple Support.

Now, if you are listening to music through the Music app, for example, the music should continue to play even after your screen locks/goes to sleep.

Feel free to leave suggestions and feedback here: Product Feedback - Apple.

Thank you for your post.

Take care.

There is a clear use-case logic break in the setup of auto-lock in 13.

If one is streaming video content via AirPlay, it would be expected that the iPhone would not capture “attention”. Users will be focused on a second screen. Since attention is required to avoid auto-lock, and since auto-lock NO LONGER HAS a “Never” option, it becomes impossible to avoid phone locking interruptions of Airplay streaming.

The REALLY obvious answer is to have an AirPlay option to disable the auto-lock while streaming is underway. Or, ensure that locking does not interrupt streaming. Or, both.

Please fix this. Thank you.
