Logic Pro X Importing Audio issues

You can find many other threads on the same issue. So far the workaround is to convert to AIFF or WAVE before importing in Logic.

Many users report that the last version of Logic Pro X (10.4.8) fixes the problem.

The solution is to convert the MP3 file to an uncompressed format like WAVE or AIFF. No need for third party utilities. You have everything to do it in your macOS. For example, one simple approach is to use Music.

Basically, convert the audio in question to a WAV file, then import to Logic Pro once more and try. should work.

What i'm doing to solve this problem it's using a audio converter, so you take your mp3 or whatever file, and convert it to whatever works for you, but you have to make sure to convert the file and adjust the sample rate to the one you are using in the project you're working. I know it sounds crazy, but even if you take an mp3 file at 44.1Khz and just take the audio and convert it to the same have worked for me. I usually use the online audio converter website.

Converting the audio file to .wav should solve the problem... it's annoying tho.

I've had this issue. As a work around, import it into GarageBand (which works fine) and then you can import that project into Logic Pro. Seems to work ok.

As you can see from the posts in that discussion and others, these are well known issues.

Update to Catalina is not recommended to anyone using audio applications.

Your best option: Rollback to a previous Macos version.

I agree with you not using online converters, not saying it isn't useful but I just don't give 100% trust to it.

I also updated my Logic Pro X to 10.4.8, I can import mp3 format again with no problems.

Had this issue where audio that plays fine skips all the way through when importing.

Don't know if this will always fix but i had trouble with a voice recording of some drums and solved it by converting the file into AIFF. Played perfectly after that

I think that convert to aiff is a good way to avoid this reeeeally annoying issue (I mean 230$ software plus 3000$ hardware is such an investment for that amount of mistakes...)

I had the same problem.

All you have to do is to convert .mp3 audio file to .wav audio file and import as a .wav file.

The only workaround I've found thus far (in my limited attempts) is to use https://phonicmind.com/ & download their .stem.stem.mp4 option & then import that. It locks the audio files. However, I'm not sure if it's exactly what I'd hoped for. Definitely pretty frustrated Apple hasn't continued to support Logic as a product.

This is so incredibly frustrating. I did the update because I was so tired of being reminded every day. I figured it's been so long that I had ignored the notifications I thought it would be safe to do, and sure enough...garbage! I have been experiencing issues for a long time, including when I upgraded my Maschine software, the sampler stopped working. I haven't been able to sample any audio from the inputs since. Logic's issues are that many plugins have now quit, or are not even recognizable. Every export I do reacts in a different way. Podcasts application opens automatically when exporting audio to iTunes. After which, you need to close Logic down so that you can run a search to find your song, then you must open the song to have it open in iTunes which is another story of disaster in its own. Very annoying!

Long story short, DO NOT UPDATE TO CATALINA IF YOU ARE USING LOGIC!
