Logic Pro X Importing Audio issues

SOLUTION!!

I messed up by upgrading to Catalina too soon. So to anyone still having this issue that hasn't or doesn't plan to upgrade to 10.4.7(which supposedly fixes the bugs)...

If you still have GarageBand open it. If not, download it. It's free in the App Store. Start a new project in there. Add any/all audio file(s) you plan on using. Save the project. Open Logic, hit File, Open, then open that garage band project you just saved. Logic will save it as it's own project & the audio file will be there at the right pitch & tempo. 😉.

I had this issue as well. Make sure to install the latest MacOS and latest version of Logic (10.4.7).

This should fix your issue, Apple corrected their error in the latest update.

If it doesn't help, try converting your files to lossless formats (AIFF, WAV) and importing them like that. It will help you to keep going while waiting for the new update.

You can find many other threads on the same issue. So far the workaround is to convert to AIFF or WAVE before importing in Logic.

Many users report that the last version of Logic Pro X (10.4.8) fixes the problem.

Thanks for the feedback and my apologies for having misinterpreted your post.

The solution is to convert the MP3 file to an uncompressed format like WAVE or AIFF. No need for third party utilities. You have everything to do it in your macOS. For example, one simple approach is to use Music.

Importing via "Import" from the file menu worked for me as well. I was having the same issue using drag-and-drop.

Basically, convert the audio in question to a WAV file, then import to Logic Pro once more and try. should work.

Adding to what fuzzfilth said.

If you have a backup, I recommend you rollback to the previous version of macOS.

If you cannot, then what is your Logic version? There was reports on mp3 issues with Logic and Catalina beta. It is possible a recent Logic update fixed them. I cannot test it.

For other users reading this: Do not update to Catalina until you're sure all third party applications, plugins, hardwares are compatible and tested. Also I suggest you deactivate automatic updates; especially for macOS.

What i'm doing to solve this problem it's using a audio converter, so you take your mp3 or whatever file, and convert it to whatever works for you, but you have to make sure to convert the file and adjust the sample rate to the one you are using in the project you're working. I know it sounds crazy, but even if you take an mp3 file at 44.1Khz and just take the audio and convert it to the same have worked for me. I usually use the online audio converter website.

Yes, converting to an uncompressed format is a known workaround.

Also, "importing" through the Add Audio File menu item in the Media Browser may work.

Converting the audio file to .wav should solve the problem... it's annoying tho.

I've had this issue. As a work around, import it into GarageBand (which works fine) and then you can import that project into Logic Pro. Seems to work ok.
