I lost all my emails in Apple Mail doing a system upgrade to OS Catalina!
Several people have reported lost or blank e-mail messages after updating macOS to Catalina. I lost 50,000 messages. Here's my solution, which requires a back-up of messages made before the Catalina update.
Methods that did not work for me:
MDN reported: "Apple releases [...] macOS Catalina 10.15.3 [...] public betas...
Does anyone know if the Mail issues will finally be fixed with this update?
I can't buy a new MBP, until this problem is resolved -- I just MIGHT make the problem, worse !
Thanks Tripteron for your suggestion. Unfortunately, it didn't work for me.
What happened?
Some mails remain blank. The preview seems ok but when I want to see the mail, it is empty. About 9000 mails lost.
It's a remnant. I have a V2 remnant too. It has one file in it (accounts.plist) that has not been updated in four years. I'm not worried about it. It did not prevent my solution above from working.
Good, I won't worry about this one then.
Thanks for your answers. Please forward their answers to this thread. (Maybe Apple should buy Postbox....? ;-))

No, many did a normal upgrade – and it happened!
Hi, lost of all pop e-mails after a normal installation of Catalina.
Why not participate to a class action. What does it imply?
Happy New Year all!

vbat, have you run Etrecheck? Do you see anything unusual?
Did you try the method that I suggested earlier in this discussion?
Yes, I did, coxorange, (didn't know that soft before): nothing very unusual.
Thanks.
