trackpad click not working after installing Catalina. Anyone facing the same problem?
MBP 2019 15" here on MacOS Catalina 10.15.2 (19C57)
Did you ever find a resolution for this? I have the same problem. After "upgrade" to Catalina, all downward presses on the trackpad result in a click, even though I have selected "silent click". Previously, all my clicks were silent before the upgrade. Very frustrating!
I'm having the same issues on a MacBook Pro 2017 model. So it can't be just older units. If anyone finds a solution please let me know. Mine isn't the sounds, it's literally not wanting to recognize when I click on things and I've checked all the settings, rebooted over a dozen times and then did a wipe. None of the above worked.
New MacBook Pro 16in here and I believe I am having some of the issues described. Some of my silent and forced clicks do not register. Have to try it multiple times. I wonder if this is a Catalina problem.....
This is definitely a Catalina problem since it happened to me right after update. My trackpad problem is basically not responding anything after switching from sleep mode to wake up mode. Every single time I needed to restart my mac. I wish I hadn't updated.
My issue is different. After installing Mac OS Catalina, my trackpad doesn't work and there is no button to active it in system preferences > accessibility > pointer control > mouse and trackpad Botton is missing there! But if I install other version of Mac OS, everything would be fine. is there any one who have any solution in this case. Thanks. Hamid
Yes I too bought a Mac Book Pro 16 " and then my track pad stopped working. It doesn't want to stay connected and in fact has never connected properly. I suspect I will have to purchase a new external track pad now.
I am having troubles with the trackpad and the clicking sequences. this all started after installing catalina. Any work around this?? Please help. Its driving me nuts because lots of my work requires editing and copy/paste/highlight tasks.
Yeah, this still doesn't fix anything. I am still having issues with the trackpad. Doing a multi-select with shift and trying to drag and drop items only works every 2nd or 3rd try. Same issues I mentioned before with tap to click holding either control or command down. This is insanely bad coming from my MacBook Pro 2011 which was on Mavericks or High Sierra (can't remember). I've never had so many issues with Mac OS before. I am quite surprised this hasn't been addressed and fixed yet.
Since I upgraded to Catalina on my MacBook Pro (mid-2015) the trackpad works for a few minutes and then just dies not allowing me to click on anything. So, I keep having to Shutdown and reboot. Very frustrating.
Guys i solved this issue.
Go to System Preferences > Trackpad > check Tap to click
and you are done :)
MBP 2015 15": trackpad clicking has changed. Previously I was using a silent clicking, now this setting doesn't do anything.
I'm "excited" to use a newest macOS Catalina.
Dear Nora, a several reboots (more than two) and the issue has resolved for me.
Thanks for the reply Oleg. 5 reboots so far and still clicking. I'll keep trying.
Just keep working on your MacBook.
My problem was resolved on a next day or so. I can't understand any logic here.
