Cannot import mailboxes into Mail after upgrade to Catalina

Getting message (close to the finish of import) that it failed and I shall check if I have enough space in my Home folder (total B.S.). Any clue?

"Mail cannot save information about your mailboxes because there isn't enough space in your home folder." After replacing the hard drive on my 15" mid-2012 MBP, and reinstalling Catalina and migrating all of my data from a Time Machine backup, every time I open Mail, after a few minutes I get the message above. I've tried everything I can find in Apple Communities to fix the problem, but nothing works. Any good advice out there?
