Choppy Movie Playback.

Does anyone know how to get iTunes movies to play back smoothly in Windows 10? They work fine on my iPhone, iPad and AppleTV, but on my Windows PC, movies are a choppy, stuttering mess.

I have 30+ Mbps download speed and a fast processor and graphics card. Other video playing apps, Youtube etc, all work fine.

I have set iTunes process to "High" priority in Task manager.

Thanks, Jim

For those who have the stuttering problems with movie playback on the latest 64 bit iTunes for Windows I share your pain. In an effort to troubleshoot this problem I have done a fresh Windows install today and I have installed the latest iTunes and the stuttering continues.

I removed iTunes and installed this older version: https://support.apple.com/kb/DL1816?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US

NOTE: You need to delete the iTunes library.itl file before you downgrade in this manner

Once installed the older version works far better with only minor stuttering once in a while. The movie I used to check the stuttering is the same movie download I used for the newer version.

This proves that the latest iTunes version is defect for proper movie playback in windows. If any Apple engineer reads this post and wants to reach out to me to gather log files or to make log files I am willing to help.

It is iTunes version 12.4.3. I was able to log in just fine with that version. That error you are receiving sounds like a Windows 10 issue. To solve this uninstall the old version and remove the iTunes folder manually from your PC. Install the new version from the Microsoft store. Try to login. If you get the same error again with the new version run the cab file posted by Cynthiamaecarolan in this post:

https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-performance/error-code-0x80090302-when-trying-to-sign-into-my/5b9b683a-043e-4f61-9bd3-7fe34272abf6

Restart the PC after running that cab file and following the steps. Then try to login. Once the error goes away uninstall the new version, delete the iTunes library.itl, and then reinstall the old version
