Bluetooth issues since upgrading to ios 13.1.2

• Depending on what you've tried already, these steps might help: If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod doesn't connect to or work in your car
• On the iPhone, go to Settings > Bluetooth and look for the name of the radio. If you don't see it there, go into Bluetooth settings on the radio display. If you see the name of your iPhone, try pairing from there instead. 
• Rename the iPhone then try pairing again: Change the name of your iPhone, iPad, or iPod using your computer
• Try another Bluetooth device on the radio to see if it can work. If it doesn't, reach out to the manufacturer: Contact Us | Contact Toyota

I've had this issue in my 2015 Prius V. I'm still working on fixing it (I think it's an issue with the head unit needing an update, but I'm not sure yet), but for now I have it narrowed down to a "Sync contacts" issue.

As a workaround, delete your bluetooth connection with your car and phone (on both sides) and go through the pairing process again. When it asks if you want to synchronize your contacts, click NO. That should allow you to use most of your car/phone features and prevent it from rebooting constantly until you can get the underlying issue fixed, whatever that ends up being.

I am having the same problem with my iPhone XS since the latest update dropping its bluetooth connection in my 2015 Toyota Sienna. I took it in to Toyota they updated my radio system but I still have the problem. It definitely is a problem with the latest Apple Update since other peoples phones without the latest update still work.

I have the exact same issue with my 2016 4Runner TRD Entune. Dealer updated head unit firmware. Did not fix the problem so last week (Nov 9, 2019) they replaced the entire head unit. After about 1hr of success the same cycle of rebooting started again. Certainly an IOS issue and seems to happen when I use the iphone's media (podcast, Spotify, music, etc). Renders bluetooth useless.

I have this same issue in a brand new 2019 Sequoia. I, too, have narrowed it to syncing contacts. If I remove that check box everything works just fine, except my contacts aren’t in the head unit so callers come up unknown.

And I’ve updated to 13.2.2. Same issue. I haven’t found anything that fixes this yet other than not syncing contacts. The dealer updated the firmware last week. That was supposed to fix the issue. It did not.

Same. I just returned to Apple after three years with Samsung. Last week updated my phone and can’t go more than 30 seconds without rebooting my 2914 Toyota 4Runner system.

If I disconnect my Bluetooth, everything works fine. Never had this issue with Samsung. Almost sad I switched back now.

True, but I just use Siri to make calls so the only downside of no contacts is anyone calling appears as unknown caller on the truck. So I look at my phone. And text messages still come in and show who they’re from. So no question Apple and Toyota need to fix this, but this solution lets most everything work. And based on past posts, it could take quite some time for this to be fixed.

I’m having the same issue. My radio reboots in my Avalon about every 5-7 minutes. I’ve tried everything. Even did a reset on my phone, & update on Entune Radio on my Avalon. My IPhone 11 Pro is updated to version 13.2.3. The Toyota technician said it was my iPhone. Hopefully Apple will resolve the issue ASAP.

Sadly, you need to delete your contacts. Delete your phone from your Toyota. Sync it again and don’t allow the contacts to share to your car. I’ve been able to use my phone and apps through Bluetooth but just can’t see my contacts on the Entune screen.

It’s not an iPhone 11 issue. I have an iPhone X. There are reports all the way down to 8. It’s the iOS, not the phone. Any phone running an older iOS is fine. If you’re running a recent version of 13 you have to not sync contacts or the head unit reboots constantly.

Everyone here seems to be way to forgiving to Toyota. They've been having this problem with the navigation radios since 2014. My iPhone 7 has just been updated to iOS 13.3 and so far for the 5 minutes of driving I did at lunch, the radio in my 2019 Tundra did not reboot. Here's hoping.

Ooooh. I haven’t upgraded to 13.3 yet. Please report back and let us know if 13.3 fixes the issue. And as to letting Toyota off the hook, this is an interesting one because the range of related issues go far beyond Toyota. Lots of makes and models have multiple related issues when new iOS versions hit. And much of this goes back to the radio manufacturers since the car manufacturers don’t actually make their own radios.

Uncheck the sync contacts box and you’ll be fine. Everything will work except seeing the callers name on your truck display because your contacts won’t be in the truck. Names still appear for text messages and I just use Siri to dial calls since no contact list in my truck. Not optimal but acceptable until the issue is fixed.

2017 Tacoma with Entune Premium radio id 510103... I had to her the file from a dealership named 13TDANNA-DA11_0158.kwi which is the Kiwi file for the 2019 Avalon and Camry I believe and side load it to the radio... this did not fully “fix” it but it is MUCH BETTER... never had this problem with either of my Notes though... freakin Apple 🙄
