Apple seems to have been including Canon printer drivers scanner support through macOS10.14.6 Mojave. Will macOS10.15 Catalina continue support Canon printer/scanners with the 32-bit print drivers? If not, does anyone know a work around? My printer is a Canon Pixma TS6220 and was purchased less than 6 months ago.

There's a difference between drivers and other peripheral software. Drivers for printers are written by Apple, have been for a very long time. Apple's specification has made it so compatible printers are made to talk with Macs directly without the need of external drivers.
The specific Canon software like the scanner software or image editing application it may come with are not made by Apple. Its up to Canon to update those.
The printer will still work on Catalina normally , but the included Canon 32 bit software will not.
You can use Apple's own Image Capture or Preview to scan documents if the Canon software is not updated.
The instructions for Image capture will help with scanning but for printing I suggest trying downloading the most up to date driver for your printer at https://wwwww.canon-europe.com/support/consumer_products/products It may be 32-bit, however appears to be working for most people.

I think that I jumped to conclusion that Canon was saying that Apple provided specific product model support by default, rather than generic Canon IJS scanner, and Epson Fax support which is present. No PPD printer files are pre-installed for either vendor, so model specific printer features would not be supported beyond Apple's generic print driver. This is regarding Mojave 10.14.6 (18G103).
In the generic Canon bundles, the compiled binaries appear to be dual architecture: i386 (32-bit) and X86_64, which would fly on Mojave for basic device support. It would not be unexpected that Apple would cleanse these to be strictly 64-bit on Catalina, as the 32-bit code would otherwise be useless.
I upgraded to Catalina a couple of days ago and have a Canon TS5050 for Printing, Scanning & Copying. Printing & Copying fine as before but could not Scan (driver error message). Upgraded to Air Print as recommended when printing today. Have just been able to Scan via System Preferences / Printer and Scanners - selected the Scan tab for my device, Open Scanner and just followed the on screen instructions for scanning. Worked first time.
Using the scientific method of logic would tell us that the most up to date driver available from Canon would not work because it is appears to be strictly 32- bit, however inexplicably it is working for some. I suggest somewhere there have been some accommodations. I hope that others and particularly people with the large graphic printers also take note that there are software and firmware updates available at the same site I referred sitetech to https://www.canon-europe.com/support/products/imageprograf/imageprograf-ipf760.html?type=drivers&language=en&os=macos%2010.14%20(mojave). I know if I needed to print something today and had no available solution I would try these downloads and updates knowing that they will not cause harm.
I've downgraded to Mojave.
There is no 64bit Canon driver for my brand new PowerShot camera nor for my old DR-C scanner.
My OKI printer didn't work either.
Catalina SUCKS.
I have no intention to buy new hardware because Apple thinks 32bit is not fancy!
Try using Apple's Image Capture app to use your scanner. Check image Capture help to find out how. You may have to be connected by USB for it to work. While I'm still running Mojave, my Canon printer's scanner stopped working a year ago because it is wriiten in 32 bit, and my printer is no longer supported by Canon, so it's software will not be updated. Image Capture gave me my scanner back. Give it a try.
Apple has been warning people that a Catalina update is only 64bit and 32bit would no longer be supported for quite some time. Printer drivers are responsibility of printer not Apple. So in reality Apple has nothing to do with your printer drivers being out of date. Would be nice but thats not the way it works.

I have the ipf8400. nothing working in Catalina ... canon told me to update the drivers by the end of November.
But now in Mojave suddenly also nothing works any more ... so that's bad from canon ... been talking often to them, that their Mac drivers are bad as **** and have less functionality as on windows.
now I have to print via parallels in windows - how bad is that?
hopefully they get their stuff done ... had too many problems with canon and they don't listen ... as I need the printers for business I will see, if the next big printer will be again canon ...

I would disagree with Phil's statement suggesting Apple writes printer drivers. Apple requires that all printer manufacturers provide Apple with compatible drivers which Apple will make available every so often in packages. Otherwise, drivers can be downloaded from the manufacturers' websites. Unfortunately, Canon chose to no longer support drivers for Macs since the move to 64-bit-only in Catalina.
Completely agree that it isn't possible. Downloaded the free Genius Scan app instead as that is what people around my company are using while working from home. Works great for basic scanning where you don't need high quality.
Have an IPF-760 and upgraded to Catalina. Can't get it to print.
No that is misleading as 32 bit is not supported on Catalina in any way shape or form. Only 64bit on Catalina so it is not working for some if on Catalina. Mojave, yes, Catalina no.
