internet connection good but no web pages

Having problems opening any web pages.

It took me 4 tries to get to this site.

According to speed test I have a download speed of 32 mbs; wifi strength is 4 bars at top of screen; in system preferences > networks I am connected with an IP address.

Started having problems yesterday but is hopeless today.

I ran First Aid in Disk Utility, I cleared all History and cache, I even reloaded OS Mojave.

Running iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2015: Processor 3.2 GHz Intel Core i5: Memory 8 GB 1867 MHz DDR3: Graphics AMD Radeon R9 M380 2 GB.

Is there something I'm missing? Is someone tapping into my Mac?

Not only Safari but FireFox is affected also.

iMac Line (2012 and Later)

What exactly happens if you try to access a website, in Safari or Firefox? Any error message? Be specific, please.

Do you see something like this, even if you know the site exists (e.g. http://www.apple.com)?

Go to System Preferences->Network. Does Wifi show a green dot (and say Connected)?

This could be a DNS issue.

Select your Wifi on the left and click on Advanced...

then click on DNS.

What do you see under DNS Servers?

If it is a grey IP (automatically furnished by your router), try adding the 8.8.8.8 address.

Any changes?
