L2TP/IPsec VPN doesn't work after upgrade to Catalina.

Is this a bug or a planned "feature" ?

It is not possible to work with VPN's after upgrade to Catalina.

L2TP VPN Catalina I am not an IT person. I am just a loyal lifetime Mac user. I have a major issue right now with Apple. I cannot connect to L2TP VPN since using Catalina (which came preinstalled on my MacBook Pro 15inch). I need to be able to access Remote Desktop for work and to do this I need to first connect to my work server via VPN. I am able connect without any issues on my Mac Pro desktop, which is still running Mojave (and which I am terrified to upgrade to Catalina). I have read that Apple has removed VPN connectivity via L2TP, even though system preferences still allows it to be set up. I have tried third party VPN software such as VPN Tracker but it does not work either. Many people seem to have this issue and have not been able to find a solution. Can Apple please resolve this issue urgently?

L2TP IPSec VPN failures after upgrade to MacOS Big Sur After upgrading to Big Sur (from up-to-date Caralina) this week I discovered half of my VPN connections to remote sites are no longer working. The error is the "L2TP-VPN server did not respond" .. however pretty sure you get the same error if the shared secret is mis-matched. All VPN connections continue to work as before from Windows 10. Target VPN servers are Draytek Vigor ADSL routers I've tried manually re-created the VPN configuration on the Mac, but no luck. The only thing I can think of is an incompatibility between certain models of Draytek router with BigSur. I've seen people reporting problems with Big Sur beta releases but no fixes. Anyone else with similar? Thanks

Hope you're right.

This is the exact response by Shimo support "Unfortunately it’s no longer possible to provide PPTP and L2TP support on macOS Catalina due to Apples security restrictions".

Shimo doesn't work any more.

Also Apple VPN on L2TP does't work always returning an error "the server L2TP-VPN did not respond...."

I agree that it's somehow strange to still have configuration available but this is my situation at the moment... :(

I add another information.

Examining the log of Vpn Connections (vim /var/log/ppp.log) i've found the following error. "L2TP: cannot connect racoon control socket: Connection refused".

Same here on Mojave after "Security Update 2019-002 Mojave". My VPN (Cisco IPSec) doesn't work anymore.
