I had the same problem too on my iPhone 6s plus. Immediately noticed the power drain issue after the upgrade. And the iPhone is getting very hot.

The following setting changes seem to work for me. Hope that helps you all

  1. disable 'Optimized Battery Charging' in the battery setting
  2. disable most of the location service options as described in https://youtu.be/vO0QRxgAOP4
  3. disable 'Share iPhone Analytics' and 'Share iCloud Analytics' in Privacy setting
  4. TURN ON 'Limit Ad Tracking' in Privacy setting

Hi all, I had the same problem with my iPhone SE. After the update I could literally watch the battery charge counting down and also my phone got quite hot. I tried different things (Disabled Location Services - had some impact but not a lot, Disabled optimized charging - nearly no impact, ...) but the only change that really had a great impact for me was disabling the Peak Performance Capability (https://www.digitalcitizen.life/what-is-how-disable-peak-performance-capability).

After disabling it, my battery lasts again like before! Hope this maybe also works for others!

You can definitely reduce the symptoms by progressively disabling features but the iphone 7 still manages to drain out with no reported background activity and then fails to recharge (with an apple smart battery). disconnect the case and then a couple reboots and it starts to charge up again. the sudden depletion of power when idle and asleep is strange. and this definitely coincidentally started ios 13.1.x updates. and it will randomly shutdown even after reaching 100% power...

I use 6S for years, never tried the situation like yesterday! my iphone updated the system automatically while i was charging my phone with wifi on from ios 13.1.1 . There was no battery problem of my phone with ios 13.1.1,but the phone was overheated after the update of 13.1.2. I googled the news of battery problems of 13.1.2, so I updated 13.1.3 right after the new update of 13.1.2. Even the news claimed that the new ios solved the battery problem, but for me the problem is even worse!!! it drained from 52% to 20% in 15mins while i just using whatsapp without videos and photos. I lost my patience to bring a phone with died battery out.

Same with me.

iPhone 6S Battery Drain and Overheat problems after iOs 13.1.2 update.

After I updated my iPhone 6S to iOs 13.1.2, whenever I turn ON the WIFI(Connected or Not Connected), the battery drains so fast, also at a certain point the phone overheats displaying a message alert "Temperature - iPhone needs to cool down before you can use it".

So now, just using my phone without connecting to the WIFI.

Is apple aware of this issue?

When are they going to resolved this? on the next update?

This is very frustrating, I want to revert my iOS to 13.1.1, can I officially do it without losing my data on my phone?

I’m using an iPhone X and since 13.1.1 and 13.1.2, a full charge on my phone lasts 10 hours before going to “low battery mode”. Prior ios releases in same device, same usage, I could eek out 20-24 hours on a full charge. I just disabled optimized charging so I’ll see if that makes a difference. I don’t want to disable location services since I use maps a lot.

One of the things that it could be related to is network or the at&t carrier.

Call is what drains the battery the most, safari second.

Yesterday I got a notification about carrier update, I just pressed ok. Not sure if this will help but I believe that are other things related for the battery to drain faster with the IOS13.1.3.

I also called apple and they run a remote test on my phone, everything was ok according to the three tests they run.

They suggested me to do a restore which I have done weeks ago but i didn’t fix anything.

I look at the battery chart and activities and it looks fine, I don’t see anything abnormal.

Still not sure what else to do.

Close to tape a battery pack on the back of this phone, really.

Everyone I speak to with an iPhone where I live in Japan has or has had a problem with the 13.1.2 update. One person with an iPhone SE who went to his provider’s shop for help because his battery was draining in one hour, was told to either buy an expensive new battery or buy an iPhone 11 😂 ... Another friend with an iPhone 10 installed 13.1.2 and then couldn’t use safari!! .... It only showed a white screen. Ironically she could use google chrome 😂😂😂. After a week the 13.1.3 update brought her safari back, but what a great promotion for google!!! Both thee friends and many others were grateful for my help in saving battery usage highlighted in this thread. Quite an education on what to switch off!! 😁

Personally, my iPhone SE is fine again after following all the battery saving ideas here and after installing 13.1.3. I’m sending no data to Apple but saving hours of battery life 😊

I called Apple support and was instructed to turn off a few more features. I had already done the ones suggested on this forum. Nothing helped. My power would go to less than 20% every evening. Then it got better without any changes on my part. My theory is that one or more apps were pulling down the battery. These get updated often, so one would never know. The battery life history did not point out an offending app. Here we have been blaming the iOS, when it may be an app. Still Apple is or should be responsible. Like so many, I am ready to switch to Samsung, but will wait until this gets sorted out. What is disheartening is that Apple provides no information. Apple, tell us what is going on!
