I updated my phone the other day and now I can’t enlarge a picture in a text message. When I hold on the picture all it wants to do is to delete it! How do I zoom in to look at a picture close up?
I had the same experience - showing the circles with check marks in them - and then it just occurred to me that I was in a "delete selected" mode or something. You have to cancel out of that first (upper right "cancel"), then it works.
So the correct procedure is NOT to 2-finger spread on an image to zoom - that is what gets you into that "delete selected" mode described above. You have to tap on the image once first, it expands to fill screen, THEN you can 2-finger spread zoom in further.
The instructions above do not work. When you tap a picture it only gives you the opportunity to delete. If you hold, it gives other options. No more ability to expand so you can see the details.
Thats really weird because my problem is on the Iphone 7+ and a friend with an 11 doesnt have the problem. It works on Whatsapp but not Imessage for me.

You nailed it. Some that worked perfect, now doesn’t. Apple needs a new Jobs...he would have never tolerated this.
This is stupid. Took something that worked PERFECT, and made it harder. Jobs would not have tolerated this.
Thanks...unfortunately this new way works worse than the old version on an iPhone 7...which is likely how Apple forces you to buy new phones
I have the same issue and it's extremely frustrating. I do not understand why anyone thought this was a good idea for an "upgrade."

I agree. The hard tap barely works. The touch can't be too hard or too soft. Very frustrating.

Did not work for me. In fact there are small little holes by the picture and if I tap it it fills with blue like a check mark it refuse to let me enlarge the picture why?
