All CS6 and older Adobe apps are dead in Catalina.
For Office, I would have to presume you're using Office 2011 or older. You need something newer. If you must use genuine Office apps, then your current choices are Office 2019 (one-time cost perpetual license), or Office 365 (subscription). Office 2016 is still being sold, but there's no point at all even looking at that since the 2019 version is its replacement.

In addition to the above I'd recommend to migrate for Affinity products that similar to Adobe ones you use—I heard they quite good, also not expensive and not-subscription. (It's not an advert—I use Adobe CC and don't like to change my working tools at all.) As for MS Office, try to use Apple Pages, Numbers and Keynotes — they're quite different to MSO but as you use pretty old version of it, newer ones are different too (but the Apple apps have some interesting functions, and I prefer them to MSO recently).
Also, in my case Catalina definitely runs faster and smoother than Mojave for MBPro mid 12.
As far as I know Apple doesn't offer anything like that.
You might test LibreOffice, which is what I use instead of Microsoft, to find out it it meets your requirements. It is free.
As far as CS5 goes there are number of far cheaper solution for photo editing. You will need to search for a solution that fits your needs. For me, I have found Capture One to be a really great solution. It is a bit pricy but it is extremely powerful.
isabella60, thanks for your input, that helps me a lot. those are the two features i normally use too. i now definitely will not subscribe to 360. thank you.
Thank you for your reply. the macOS Mojave that I had previously seemed faster than Catalina. I checked Adobe/MS they don't seem to have any features for one-time payment items. annual/monthly payment is not suitable to a non-pro user like me. Does Apple offer any of its own devices? Thank you.
Hi, NickyThe Nick, Thank you for your helpful recommendations. I did find the Apple Pages a useful/useable substitute for my Word document. I have already been using Numbers and Keynotes together with Excel and Powerpoint for years. As for Adobe CS, the Preview can do some of the Acrobat stuff, but not all and I'll miss Photoshop for sure, at least for now. I will check it up on Affinity. Thank you, again.
Allan Eckert, I will check up on those suppliers. Thank you so much.
Hi, Allan Eckert, I will keep those in mind. You've been very helpful, thanks a lot.
Yes, I have been using CS5 and Office 2011. So office 2019 seems a good choice for me. Thanks, Kurt Lang!
I concur on Catalina being faster and far smoother then Mojave ever was for me also on my Macs.
Hi Allan Eckert, Thanks for the reassurance. It makes me feel better about the OS change.
I have upgraded to Catalina and have the feeling it is actually quicker.
You will need to get an upgraded version of the software from Adobe and Microsoft.
I have a subscription to MSOffice 365 and since Catalina, I cannot access WORD or EXCEL (the only 2 I use)

Make sure your Office 365 is updated.
It is. I have it in auto update and checked manually just to make sure
