My friend accidentally deleted his harddrive! Is there anyway to recover it!??? Please help

If by deleted, you mean completely erased his Late 2008 MacBook's internal HDD, then he has a limited number of choices going forward:

  1. If he make a Time Machine or clone copy of his notebook's drive, he could use Recovery Mode to reload OS X or macOS. He can then use Migration Assistant to restore his data from the Time Machine backup.
  2. If he doesn't have a backup, then at best, he should be able to reload the notebook's OS using Recovery Mode.
