Unable to use controls on Youtube videos in Full Screen.

I can use the video controls like volume, or click pause or start, or any of the controls - until I go Full Screen. Then they all freeze, and only way I can change anything, or even pause or stop the vid, is to hit the escape key on keyboard several times. Then vid returns to small/normal screen, and I can use the video controls again. Only started doing this yesterday; I updated Mac earlier yesterday, from Mohave to the latest OS Catalina. Had this new Mac 3 weeks. Positive it's not YouTube; could it be this Mac/upgrade? Any ideas? Thanks.

I have no problem using all of the controls at full screen. Boot into Safe Mode

NOTE: Safe Mode boot can take up to 10 minutes as it's doing some system cache cleaning, volume verifying and directory repairing.

Can you explain further pls? Booting into Safe Mode just to watch a YT vid seems a bit extreme to me? And a Temporary Fix, when I need a permanent Fix. It's my first Mac, and admit to being underwhelmed by it for many reasons. Windows is much more straightforward for PC's, although iPad is great. Guess that's what I thought I was buying; a large iPad. 😂
