The compass app on my series 5 Apple Watch keeps opening. I am not opening the app. I turned off the Always On since my battery was draining and now when I raise my wrist, it always shows the compass.

So I resolved this issue by going to the watch app then GENERAL then WAKE SCREEN then at the bottom there is an option for “On Screen Wake Show Last App” and I selected “Never Unless In Session” and then it stopped doing it
Thank you for this response. I was able to get it to stop by rebooting, but if the problem returns, I will try this.
Mine just started doing this now too. It hadn't before this morning but then I had an update so I performed that. I must have been because of the update! Now it's driving me crazy.
Sorry...let me add that you need to do this on your iPhone if it is linked. So, those are the iPhone directions.
I tried this right after noticing that my Apple Watch kept opening the compass app, and it doesn’t work.
Don’t think you can remove it but the workaround I did few comments up worked for mine and the compass now doesn’t do it anymore. It was annoying!
just got my very first apple watch today, and im having the same issue. going to attempt to do an update right now to see if it fixes it. jan 31 2020
No way to remove the compass as far as I know...
The Now Playing one could be from running around doing things, and it will think you are exercising and it will open the music, now playing, and the exercise app.
I’m having the same exact problem. Not only with the compass app but also the now playing app. I tried rebooting the apple watch and it again opened the compass app by itself. This only happens when I open the compass app manually and then delete the app page.
I have the same issue also with compass app .
I am using infograph modular face so I thought may be I am pressing the shortcut by mistake so I changed the face still doing the same thing with all the faces I tried
Tried to rest by pressing crown and side button both until Apple logo appears but it solves the issue for 24 hours than the same situation is repeated
I even tried to stop the App background refresh from my IPhone’s watch app but still not solved
Apple need to solve this issue ASAP
By the way I noticed that every time I fix it by rest it will do the same again the next day at afternoon and always starts in the afternoon.
I also had that problem of the compass showing when I lift my wrist but it’s gone after I sat a passcode on my watch. Try that
