I would like to buy an apple pencil for my ipad air (model A1475), but I have seen that the compatibility is with 3th generation … can i still use the 1th generation pencil ?

You would need to seek out a third party smart Bluetooth stylus for your 2013 1st gen iPad Air.

2015-2017 iPad Pro models were the first iPads to use the Apple Pencil ( 1st gen ).
OR
The previous 2018, 6th gen iPad which is still available in Apple’s refurbished and clearance store.
Don't buy one. It would be a waste of money, the Apple Pencil is not compatible with your iPad. You would also need a new iPad Air 3rd gen or iPad mini 5th gen or iPad 7th gen. (Basicially any iPad that Apple currently offers).
