Apple remote used to find the iTunes library on my Acer Pc but it stopped working, it still finds the library on my old HP PC but no longer on the new Acer.
This is a major pain as it is the core of my home music system.
my iPhone and IPad are on the same WiFi network as my PCs and home sharing is activated using the same Apple ID.
any ideas?
Have you got any third party security software running on the Acer that might block network traffic? Have you tried reinstalling iTunes? Review Use Home Sharing to share media from a computer to other devices - Apple Support in case there is something you've overlooked.

How annoying. I've got home sharing operating here between Catalina and Windows, so it should still be possible. In iTunes on the Acer look under Edit > Preferences > General > Library Name for the name of the shared library, perhaps that is blank when it shouldn't be.

Try authorising the PC for your Apple ID again.

Change it to something short and simple like Acer just in case that helps.

Hello again,
I reinstalled everything and turned the firewall off.
I reconnected using the code and now the library symbol appears but is greyed out and without a name.
different, but still not working.

i have previously reinstalled iTunes on the Acer and my iphone. It didn’t help.
i also tried restoring my pc system to a date when I am pretty sure it worked , but no success.
i am using windows defender firewall and avast free antivirus.
iTunes is Ain the list of allowed apps for the defender firewall.
I not sure why it appears in the list 3 times but each occurrence is authorised for private networks,
just to be thorough, I tried authorising all 3 for public networks temporarily, but remote still does not find the library.
I have reviewed and double checked the article. I haven’t missed anything as far as I can see. In any case it still works perfectly on my hp so the problem must be on the acer.
any other ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Bonjour services got deleted somehow!
for info, just reinstalling ITunes did NOT reinstall bonjour, so I reinstalled it from the Apple website.
i then had to reactivate sharing in iTunes preferences

both library symbols appear, but the Acer related symbol is still greyed out and without label
