mail slow to update in iOS 13

It looks like this issue extends to SMS messages too.

The notification sound and badge are ok, but the message itself is missing from the Messages app.

Using iOS 14 public beta 2.

After installing iOS 14 beta 4, the problem seems to have disappeared.

Hope this problem will be finally resolved in release 14.

This is great news, can anyone else confirm this too?

I’m having exactly the same problem. I see new Mail but Then the rest of the mail takes ages loading.

I’m on iOS 14.3, and have the same problem; if anything a little worse than 13 was.

...and 13.3 did NOT fix the issue for me.

Even tried doing a Hard Reset which powers of the iOS device completely....no joy.

Phone goes to sleep...mail app goes into background...intermittently get push notifications and full e-mail doesn't come until the Mail app is brought to foreground.

Is this just the new normal? Really disappointed in Apple.

iCloud is just as slow and non-responsive as my two Gmail accounts. I don’t believe it has anything to do with the email servers. I have stopped using iOS Mail, which I prefer, in favor of the Gmail app because it works. I’m bewildered how Apple could let this Mail bug continue to fester in iOS 13.3. One should assume beta testers are having these issues and reporting them to Apple. 🙄🙄🙄

My Apple Mail app is working again. Fingers crossed.

I have removed all contacts from the phone, disabled iCloud Contacts Sync. After reenabling contacts sync Mail worked as usual.

be carful to not loose contacts if you follow this path 🤪

Mark me down as someone that's been struggling with this since upgrading to iOS 13. I'll get a badge notification that I have a message and when launching the Mail app go to an inbox with no message showing as downloaded. Only after much of a delay does it finally download the message.

I don't believe my problem is limited to the built in Mail app in iOS. I've also tried third party mail apps (i.e. Edison Mail and Spark) and both seem to have the same issue. Although they seem to download the messages faster.

This would lead me to believe it's a background updating function of iOS itself that is the issue.

I’m disappointed by the large number of bugs showing up in Apple products. No software is perfect, but there are more and more instances of fundamental issues making it to users that should have been caught prior to RTM. The “it just works” mantra seems to have allowed the word “doesn’t” to creep in. The lack of a fix or even just a progress report if it’s turning out to be a tough problem to solve leaves the impression of a company in decline. Silence is not golden. It’s just a path to a declining user base.

I'm having the same email sync problem described in many other posts here. Has anyone experienced the same type of issue with the Phone app? I’ve had many times since installing iOS 13 where I see a notification about a missed call, but don’t see the details about that call for a while. Or once I do see the details, it takes a while for the notification to clear. There seems to be lots of lag associated with iOS 13.

I just had issue with god ole iPhone 7. aol email was working fine until recent update ios13 .3.1! whatever email not downloading , not showing , error message at bottom . all kind of issues email totally screwed up . my solution was delete aol mail account then renter add it back with automated aol apple settings . it works fine and fast now., no problems now. I believe has something to do email settings that need to be updated too. hope this works for all people with this problem .
