I can try that, however that whole G drive issue causes a problem when I try to copy the backup, it says files are missing and won't transfer everything. Also, if I were to backup my iphone right now, there is nothing on it, so my texts and contact info would still be gone.
I am now at home trying this. It keeps counting up in minutes for the time remaining. The Backup is over 50% complete, but says 52 min remain. If I look at my pc usage, the mobile backup is 0 usage, but itunes shows 25%
Another thing i notice, is that everytime I try to do this restore, it creates a new backup folder.
Do you think there would be a chance this would work if I set up the iphone as a new phone in tunes? I kinda just want to let this sit here for another hour to see if it ever progresses.
Thanks for the help Lawrence! I got it to work. I left it sit for 4 hours and it never completed the restore. After cursing, I disconnected the iphone, and this time was able to copy the backup folder to my other PC. I did not get the issue where it wsa missing files from my dead G drive. Restore took less than 5 min, and all my texts and notes are restored. The only thing is i need to sync the apps back onto this. I will try that tonight. Since there seems to be some issue with the USB connections on my original PC, I should be able to move the apps from there and put them on my backup pc and sync right?
Yes, move the apps (or the entire iTunes library if you have music also) to the backup PC, without iTunes running. Then launch iTunes on the backup PC and authorize it to the same iTunes account. When you sync it will delete content on the phone, but then restore it from the new iTunes instance.
