Battery not charging after macOS Catalina Update

Battery not charging after updating to macOS Catalina in my MacBook Pro.. Did the SMC reset but no change the issue.
As mentioned by @nicrankin I have plugged directly after removing all the laptop covers and casings which I have used to protect the MacBook Pro from scratches and it worked perfectly. I guess sometimes casings/ covers do not allow the plug to properly fit it even there are enough spaces for USB-C ports. Thanks for all the feedbacks.
I am having this issue as well on my 2018 MacBook Pro 15" as well. I have an LG monitor with Thunderbolt3 that charged my laptop perfectly fine in 10.13 and 10.14. Ever since "upgrading" to 10.15 though, it will barely charge it if at all. I'm not replacing my monitor because it is working perfectly fine. This problem didn't start till the upgrade to 10.15 so I wouldn't replace any adapters. They are just trying to point fingers at everything but themselves.
Another follow-up, came home to a battery at 31% this evening, and this is after I installed the Catalina supplemental update last evening and went to bed.
Unplugging it and replugging it into a different port had no effect. Still won't charge. Restarted the Macbook, then changed ports again. Now it's charging.
Meh.
Hmmm. Interesting for sure. I rebooted with support on the phone multiple times. Used different ports and also used multiple charging devices. I wonder if it's just the new model. Ugh. Sent the box in today. Very frustrating.
Didn't take too long for me to do another follow-up. I walked away from my Macbook for a bit, and the display shut off due to inactivity as it should. Upon waking it, the battery hit 65% and stopped charging. And just now, as I've started typing this paragraph, it's bouncing back and forth between "Battery is charging" and "More than 10 hours".
I habe a dell d6000 and what happens for me is that ill unplug to go to a meeting, then replug in and it wont charge and also wont display on external monitors, then try another port and occasionally it might work, but 75 pct of the time i have to reboot while its plugged in to fix the issue
Just an update from me, i updated the firmware on the d6000 to the latest version, no noticeable difference for me. As with previous post I have also noticed it seems to work more often after the port was recently used for charging. This is some finicky. In my situation its charging as well as external monitors.
Adding some additional information: When I am on the power adapter, my computer sometimes doesn't charge. When I click the battery icon in the top right of the screen, it appears to say that the battery is not charging, but that my power source is the power adaptor. In some cases, the computer appears to actually be discharging the battery despite the stated power source.
In system information -> power, the battery and AC adapter information appear inconsistent when this is happening. I believe the charger is supposed to draw 87W. I have seen it listed as drawing a lower wattage (don't remember the numbers).
Interestingly enough, as I type this, my computer is charging properly, but it doesn't seem to recognize my external screen.
Guys, I found a workaround.
First plug the charging port, it will show "battery not charging".
Then close the screen and reopen. (Might be the same as "lock screen/sleep".
Then it will change to charging status.
So I'm having this issue too with my 2019 MBP and of course figured at first it might be a particular port that had gone bad, or the cable, etc. What has now worked for me consistently and repeatably is so laughable that I hesitate suggesting anyone try it. But it has worked for me so perhaps it triggers some background process in MacOS that results in the power cable being recognized. Ready? I remove the usb-c cable from my laptop and the other end from the charger/adapter and I _reverse_ them. It doesn't work if I just unplug either end and wait the same amount of time before re-inserting, or if I unplug one end and flip it over, or plug it into another port or anything else I've tried. So someone else try it. Hope it helps.
Q: Battery not charging after macOS Catalina Update
Hmm. Kind of makes me feel like it more and more an "update" problem. Maybe should have waited until 10.15.2 came out? Keep me posted.
When you say a Dell D600, you are not on Mac Hardware, correct? That may be it's own thread for sure. I am really just mad that this was brand new and had a problem.
Sorry wasnt clear, d6000 is the docking station connected to my macbook pro which has issues since the upgrade
That sounds like what I saw, after upgrading the d6000 firmware it all started working as expected
Thanks, will try that tmr, the d6000 firmware upgrade utility appears to only run on windows, will see if it works from a vm, otherwise will have to borrow someones windows machine
