No 32-bit applications will run on Catalina. Been warnings about that for two years. This rules out Office 2011 for Mac, though does not rule out Office 365 or Office 2019 for Mac (single purchase) as they are 64-bit. Office 2016 for Mac will be discontinued by Microsoft in Fall 2020.
Yes. Documents etc. are just data. A newer version of Office will open your old data.
Can anyone answer this related question. I recognize that upgrading to Catalina will mean my Office 2011 applications won't be usable on my iMac. But if I do upgrade both the operating system and Office to the latest versions, will I still be able to access all content - including messages, Word Files, Excel spreadsheets - created in Office 2011?
Hi Bob, I have upgraded to office 365 but my outlook 2011 still unable to access. All my old emails wasn't able to retrieve. I didn't do a emails backup before I upgrade the OS to Catalina. I wasn't aware that outlook 2011 cannot be open with Catalina.
I have some notes files inside the outlook which I couldn't open. So sad... Any ideas how to fix this
You need Office 2016 or later that is 64 bit design
Sorry, I was not aware about this . Before installing, system also didn't give warning message.
