I have home movies stored on an external drive connected to my iMac.
I am new to Apple TV and one of the reasons I bought one was to play home movies through it.
I have Home Sharing activated but so far can only see movies I have purchased on Apple TV.
Any advice on what to do. Is it even possible to share files from an external drive to Apple TV. It works perfectly for Photos but that's probably streaming from iCloud rather than via Home Sharing?????
Thank you. I have recently upgraded to Catalina and changed the Sharing Preferences. However, I have not changed anything on Apple TV. Will check those settings later today.
Home Sharing has to be activated on both the Apple TV and iTunes on the computer (or the Sharing Preference pane in Catalina).
The service has to use the same Apple ID for this on both devices.
To access Home Sharing content on the Apple TV, use the Computers app.
