facetime sign-in problem on iPad

I sign there is a message saying "Signing in..."

and after about a minute the iPad

Unable to contact the FaceTime server

What is going wrong?

Are you able to do other things on the internet? Can you browse web pages using Safari, for example?

If not, you have an internet connection problem of some sort, which you will need to troubleshoot.

If yes, please report back telling us what you can and cannot do.

I have removed facetime from my iPad and reinstalled it and this has solved my problem. I do not have an iPhone, shame.

Yes, I can do everything on the iPad. Browse using Safari and check my emails. When signing into FaceTime it seems to recognise my Apple id and password. I changed the date & time to manual, reset the iPad but it still cannot access the FaceTime server. I get the message "FaceTime Activation Unable to access the FaceTime server. Try again OK"
