The WhatsApp Desktop app has been stuck in this state ever since I upgraded my Mac to Catalina a few days ago. I can't run the currently installed version of WhatsApp desktop. But it isn't updating, as the above screenshots show.
What happens to this when you 1) quit App Store or 2) reboot you Mac?
The screenshots are from after both quitting App Store and a re-boot.
After yet another overnight crash of my Mac I now see that the update is showing as completed.
I don't know if this is due to the re-boot or it just took time to update the App Store info.
