After upgrading to Catalina I am getting this error from the Time Machine backup app:
"Two os the disks to back up to have the same name. Rename one of the disks named "Macintosh HD-Data". Does anyone have an idea why this is happening and how to correct this error to get ™ working again? Thanks!
I had this same problem. I installed the beta of Catalina back in June, but then decided against that and did a clean install. Then this month, I installed the release version of Catalina. So I also had two Catalina installs and two "Macintosh HD - Data" partitions. Here is how I solved the problem:
Please note: I am not an expert in APFS and it's entirely possible deleting that partition is going to cause me problems down the road. So if you do this make sure you're comfortable deleting a partition. Cheers!
Oh, BTW. I fixed it by adding the number 2 at the end of the other disk. It looks like only Fusion disks have this problem.
You won't see a response from apple here, you can submit bugs with a developer account, or send it to their round file...

No.. I have the exact same error as the OP. Same pop-up window. Same error message.
Yes, I filed last night a feedback. Now found out that only one volume is used actively for new documents. I will keep monitoring and then post an update.
I have the same issue. I only installed catalina once and yet i now have 2 disks
