I have used postscript fonts successfully in all the iterations of OS X until I installed Catalina on my MacBook Pro 2018. I can use the fonts in applications such as Adobe's InDesign and Illustrator but the same fonts will not work in Pages or TextEdit.
What can I do to try to solve this problem? Is my only option to wait for the next update?

I am using the latest macOS 10.15.1 beta and was able to use my Postscript Type 1 fonts if I opened them using FontBook. I am waiting for FontExplorer to come out with an update but, if necessary, I have a workaround for now. I hope this helps.

When the postscript font is activated via FontExplorer it will appear in the font menu but when I try to write out a simply phrase such as "Hello world" nothing appears. All I see is a greyed out area the length of the page. I have not tried to print yet but for any editing it would be nice to see the words. As for a program such a MS Word, the activated font is not even visible in the font menu.
The postscript fonts appear correctly on my screen (same make and model Mac as above), but they do not print correctly, they print in a ?generic font. I tried this in Quark, Pages and TextEdit on 2 different printers, same result.
Thanks you for your reply. I bit the bullet and replaced them with opentype fonts. It was only one font family, eight typefaces, so not enormously expensive, but if you had a lot of fonts to replace it would get pricey fast.
