Unable to Unzip Photos from iCloud

I am trying to download photos from iCloud to my iMac. Using https://www.icloud.com/photos/ I select the photos and then use the download button. Whether one photo or many this creates a .zip file on my mac. When I go to open that file I get a message "unable to expand iCloud Photos into (File Name). Error 2 no such file or directory". I tried installing another decompression app (called Decompressor) and that did not work either, another similar error message. What is wrong here?

By the way, I found the answer to my own problem! When you download from the iCloud you have to download into the downloads file. Selecting another file (as I did at first) will not work.

You might want to consider starting a new discussion. Since this one is marked solved, less people are likely to look at it. A new post would be much more visible. You can link to this one.

Have you tried downloading the file again? If you control - click on the file and select open, does that help?

Solution does not work for me. When I try to extract the zip file saved to the Downloads directory from iCloud I get "Cannot Complete the Compressed (zipped) Folders Extraction Wizard. The compressed (zipped) folder is empty.
