How to convert m4b to mp3?

Now that iTunes is no longer available in macOS Catalina. anyone know how to convert audiobook files (m4b) to music files (mp3 or acc)?

iTunes did this nicely, so am looking for a replacement utility - preferably something that comes free in macOS.

Now itunes has gone in OS catalina. So has apple completely blocked a conversion possibility to mp3? How to import mp3 files to iTunes (Montery)? How to import mp3 files to iTunes MacOS Monterey 12.0.1 version? I tried different mp3 files to add to iTunes from my library on the new MacBook Pro (2021) to iTunes playlists but nothing happens. It doesn't add anything anywhere... The simple dragging doesn't function either.

I can’t seem to import m4b files into the new Music app, so can’t convert them from there.
