In the Photos app in Catalina, the thumbprints of some photos are broken at most magnifications

In the Photos app in Catalina, the thumbprints of some photos are broken at most magnifications. Has anyone else observed this? Below is an example.

Full size thumbprint:

Next size down (the same problem applies to all other thumbprint sizes):

The photos themselves seem OK.

When I rotate one of the affected thumbnails, the problem goes away, but when I rotate it back again, the problem returns. :(

Try selecting one of the problem thumbnails and rotate it 90º in one direction. Then rotate back. Does this fix the problem? If so select large batches at a time and repeat the fix.
