"The Music Library file cannot be saved. An unknown error occurred (-54)"

The issue for me was that the permissions on the Music directory where my Music library is stored (.itl and .xml files) for some reason had changed to Read only after the Catalina install. I selected the Music directory > Get Info (⌘ + i) and changed permissions for my user account to read & write.

Not sure if others had this problem, but Music had decided to close my previous library, so I had to hold option and launch Music which gives you the ability to choose which library to load (browse for .itl file). Everything seems to be working now.

i just wanted to update: i was able to fix the issue. there are generally two ways: with music running, click on music, click on preferences, click on flies and see if it says what folder music is feeding and saving to. if not, change it.

you can also import a library and see if that brings your music back.

i've been able to do that but i still receive that same error message. so far, the techs haven't been very helpful. it's irritating and profoundly frustrating.

i have the same issue -- with the exception of a couple of albums that haven't synced with the cloud.

i've tried to talk to some techs about it and haven't had much help or success. they suggested resetting the PRAM and my issue still is the same.

I am having this issue as well, however my library has completely disappeared. I had over 30 albums saved and they are all gone. I have no idea where they went, and when I try to add a new Voice Memo, that error message pops up.
